The newest models of Amazon’s standard Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite ebook readers are on sale at their lowest prices in months. You can snag the basic 4GB Kindle model for just $60 (normally $90), while the 8GB Kindle Paperwhite is on sale for $85 (normally $130). There’s also a 32GB Paperwhite model available for $110 (normally $160).
Customers will also get $20 in credit to spend on the Kindle ebook store along with their purchase of a Paperwhite by using the “KINDLE2020″ promo code (does not apply to standard Kindle purchases, unfortunately).
We’re not sure how long these discounts and promos will last, so it’s probably worth grabbing one now if you’re interested.
The more expensive Paperwhite models will get you beefier internal storage capacities compared to the standard Kindle, plus Bluetooth support for Audible audiobooks, a better screen, and waterproof design. That said, as long as you’re not planning on reading in the bath or by the pool and don’t mind skipping Bluetooth listening and the $20 credit, the basic Kindle is still a pretty good deal at $60.
All three devices have glare-free displays with adjustable brightness levels, wifi connectivity, and lots of battery life. And since ebooks are typically small files, you can easily store hundreds of books on any of the three models. That way, you can have the convenience of a lightweight handheld device that can store everything you’re reading, but with fewer distractions than your smartphone or tablet (though physical books are still worth considering, too).
