At the invitation of the Los Angeles National Cemetery, Consul General of Azerbaijan and Dean of the Los Angeles Consular Corps Nasimi Aghayev attended and addressed a Memorial Day event on May 28, 2018 at the National Cemetery.
The event was attended by hundreds of war veterans and their family members.
The National Cemetery is a burial place for all members of the US Armed Forces. Memorial Day is a US federal holiday honoring all Americans who sacrificed their lives while serving in the military.
A wreath ordered by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in honor of the American heroes was displayed alongside wreathes from other Consulates.
The program speakers included Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Congressman Ted Lieu, US Undersecretary of Veterans Affairs Randy Reeves, California Secretary of Veterans Affairs Vito Imbasciani and others.
Consul General Aghayev was also invited to address the event on behalf of the Los Angeles Consular Corps. The Consul General said he was honored to be part of this important commemoration honoring all Americans who did an ultimate sacrifice for their nation.
Then the attending Consuls General and Honorary Consuls were invited to stand in front of their respective wreathes.
The event concluded with military salutes.
